BHACF: Improving, Investing, Connecting

The goal of the Black Hills Area Community Foundation (BHACF) is to improve the quality of life in the Black Hills area by raising and distributing charitable funds. We manage those funds to maximize their return, as well as their positive impact on our communities. We invite you to join us and support your favorite causes through BHACF.

BHACF is a 501(c)(3) public charity serving both donors and nonprofit agencies.
  • We seek to raise the level of giving in the Black Hills area.
  • We facilitate giving and strengthen our region’s philanthropic vision.
  • We coordinate and provide expertise in grant-making, administration, and finance.
  • We pool resources of foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies to achieve the greatest philanthropic impact.
  • We seek to coordinate resources to create the most positive changes possible in the community.
  • Since 2006, BHACF has distributed more than $2.3 million in grants that have had a positive impact on our area. BHACF is in compliance with best practices for community foundations as certified by the Council on Foundations, Washington, D.C.
  • BHACF seeks to keep administrative costs low and expresses appreciation to our supporters whose generosity has made our growth possible.
  • Investment Management Services are provided by RBC Dain Rauscher.
  • Accounting services are provided by Casey Peterson & Associates, Ltd.
  • An annual audit is conducted by Ketel Thorstenson, LLP.
  • Regina Q. Jahr, Executive Director since 2006, is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with more than 25 years experience in the nonprofit sector.
