Grantmaking


Since 2006, BHACF has distributed more than
$6 million to hundreds of organizations that improve life in our region. We are now launching our first competitive grant cycle. Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) public charity which strives to positively affect one more more of the following issues: quality of life, beautification, economic development, education, and human and social need. With these grants, we hope to address and raise the level of awareness concerning local needs.

HOW TO APPLY
Black Hills Area Community Foundation (BHACF) makes it easy for you to apply for a grant online. Please read the instructions below before beginning an application. All BHACF grant applications should be made online.

STEP 1: REVIEW ELIGIBILITY, GUIDELINES & DEADLINES
• Please read the guidelines before applying.

STEP 2: CREATE AN ACCOUNT Watch a Registration Tutorial
• Select one login email address/password to be used for all your submissions.
• Provide the email address of the person ultimately responsible for the grant administration. BHACF will communicate all pertinent information to this email address.

STEP 3: COMPLETE THE ONLINE GRANT APPLICATION Watch an Application Tutorial

STEP 4: BHACF WILL REVIEW YOUR APPLICATION
Your grant application will be scored by a committee of local leaders. The committee’s recommendations for funding are reviewed by BHACF’s board of directors. During this process, our staff may contact you for more information.

STEP 5: FINAL GRANT DECISIONS ARE MADE
You will be notified by email if your organization received full or partial funding or in some cases, if funding has been denied. Decisions are typically made within 6-8 weeks after the application deadline.
