2018 IN REVIEW
We hope you enjoy the stories we share in this annual report; they showcase philanthropy in action accross our community. Our Board of Directors, our staff and our donors are committed to promoting and growing philanthropy in our region. We are helping to take care of our beautiful Black Hills and the people who live here. We connect people who care to causes that matter.
2017 IN REVIEW
In 2017 the Black Hills Area Community Foundation felt the positive “Power of Community.” Our Board of Directors and staff worked collectively through both tried and innovative programs to support new ideas in the community and to provide support to our hard working Black Hills organizations.
The visibility of our Black Hills Area Community Foundation has grown in multiple and significant ways this year: Our new office location on a prominent corner in downtown Rapid City, thirteen nonprofits newly partnered with us, twenty-one nonprofits received grants from both our competitive grants and our Black Hills by Choice giving circle, and our board has taken steps to ensure the fiscal responsibility commensurate with our asset growth.
We Are HOPE in the Black Hills
HOPE is defined as ‘a feeling of expectation and desire.’ The Black Hills Area Community Foundation was launched in 2006 and as we move into 2016, we are filled with HOPE and expectations as we grow and enter a new chapter of our history. We have a new Executive Director, Liz Hamburg, a dynamic Board that includes new members as well as recommitted past Board members. As you read the cover story of our donors Rob and Debbie Mudge, the story of our new endowment partner, the HOPE Center, and the excitement and expectations of Black Hills by Choice giving circles, we HOPE that you will share our excitement as we work to expand our presence and impact throughout the region.
